Woman Crush Wednesday (Retro Style) - #9

Oh, how I love this week's woman crush. She's an unsung beauty and absolutely an unsung talent. She's one of my favorite musicians, in fact. Great Hazel Scott!

Can we talk about the perfection that was Ms. Scott's lips?

This week's woman crush is the Queen of Glam, the Head Diva--she is The Boss.

Woman Crush Wednesday (Retro Style) - #7

This week's "woman crush" is my favorite Capricorn (beside myself).

 Mother Eartha!!!

The epitome of a "phenomenal woman"--beautiful, courageous, a survivor. She had it all--and I absolutely miss her earthly presence.

Woman Crush Wednesday (Retro Style) - #5 (and 4)

Last week, I overlooked posting our fourth "woman crush". I'm definitely gonna do better with my scheduling!

First, here is today's woman crush:

June Eckstine--a singer, former-chorine, and Billy Eckstine's first wife. I'm just learning about her myself, but the moment I saw a photo of her (the one above) I just had to learn more about her. A stunning and snazzy woman, she was!

Last week's woman crush was supposed to be the late (and more than great!) Ella Fitzgerald--whose birthday was this weekend (April 25th)!

Woman Crush Wednesday (Retro Style) - #1

From Amazon

A few months ago, I finally hopped on the Spotify wagon (I know, I know). As a result, I've finally had the opportunity to listen to Sarah Vaughan's body of work in a way that I've been unable to with YouTube or even Pandora. With that said, I've been listening to Sarah Vaughan nonstop for the last couple of months or so. I find myself creating excuses to listen to her ("Oh, it's raining outside...time to put on some Sarah Vaughan...").

Sarah Vaughan's voice stirs up many different feelings for me--happiness; comfort; motivation--the list goes on. For this reason and more, it was without question that I make her The Life of an Aige Old Soul's first "Woman Crush".

Sarah Vaughan sings "April in Paris":

Fitting for today's date!

This rendition of "April in Paris" was a track on the critically acclaimed 1954 album, Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown.
