I have numerous "favorite" songs--songs that make me happy, make me sad, songs that make me reminisce. We all have that ONE song that always motivates us--encourages us.
For me, that song is William DeVaughn's "Be Thankful for What You Got."
Now, I'm gonna be honest and say that up until this very moment I thought that this song was by Curtis Mayfield. Sorry Mr. DeVaughn!
This isn't particularly one of those songs that I actually "turn on" for motivation. It's more like one of those songs that randomly plays exactly when I need to hear it. When I get into one of those "moods"--moments where I get (as Holly Golightly calls it) "the mean reds", this song plays right on time and I immediately begin to tell myself "One day Adrienne, one day. One day soon."
You may not have a car at all,
but remember brothers and sisters,You can still stand tall...Just be thankful for what you've got...Diamond in the back, sunroof topDiggin' the sceneWit' gangsta lean, woo-hooo-oooh
Sometimes when I'm riding my bike on campus, the song plays in my head as well.
What song do YOU turn to for inspiration?
