92 years ago today, a woman that has blazed many-a-trail for myself and others, was born. My love and interest in this woman led to the discovery of many "classic" people and "vintage" things. Basically, if I hadn't discovered and fell in love with Dorothy Dandridge, there probably would be no "The Life of an Aige Old Soul" or a "People of Color in Classic Film" (or a Classic Ladies of Color, a Tumblr I co-moderate). I probably wouldn't even be pursuing a career in Film, either.
It's always hard for me to put into words what Dorothy Dandridge means to me. Her beauty is/was indescribable. Her talent and her overall presence as a movie star and actress--absolutely incomparable. I often think about what I would say to her if I were fortunate enough to meet her, and "Thank You" are always the first words that come to mind. I will close this post with those words.
Thank you, Ms. Dottie D.
Happy Birthday.
