In this pre-recorded episode of Aige Old Radio, we celebrated (just a fraction of) the great music of Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake. Mr. Sissle and Mr. Blake both made strides on their own, but they were also good friends who often collaborated--most notably on the music for the hit Broadway show, Shuffle Along.
Check out the broadcast:
1. "Kansas City Kitty"
Noble Sissle and His Orchestra recorded this peppy tune on September 10, 1929. [Source]
2. "The Chevy Chase"
According to the Victor Library, Eubie Blake composed this number in 1914, but it was actually performed and recorded by the Victor Orchestra. It is my assumption that the recording in this episode is the Victor Orchestra recording. This song is also referred to as "The Chevy Chase Rag" and "The Chevy Chase Foxtrot".
3. "Ukulele Baby"
4. "Polka Dot Rag"
Noble Sissle and His International Orchestra recorded this little tune in Chicago on August 15, 1934. [Source]

5. "Charleston Rag"
Some sources say that Eubie Blake composed this song at the age of 12, another says that he was actually 16. It wouldn't be recorded until 1917, says this same source. Theposter of this Youtube video also says that this particular recording (piano roll) of "Charleston Rag" was made in 1917.
6. "Waitin' for the Evenin' Mail"
According to the Victor Library, Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake recorded this song on May 25, 1923.
7. "Manda"
According to the Victor Library, Eubie Blake and Noble Sissle recorded this Chocolate Dandies song twice--first in March of 1924, then on August 27th of the same year. I believe that the version heard in Aige Old Radio is the August recording. [Internet Archive]

8. "Jig Time"
The Archive poster of this song may have obtained the audio from this Youtube clip featuring Cora La Redd and the Noble Sissle Orchestra. It is from the musical-comedy short, That's the Spirit The song is actually called "Jig Time" (not "Big Time"). That's the Spirit was released on April 15, 1933.
9. "Everything I Got Belongs to You"
"Everything I Got Belongs to You" is a song featured in the 1932 musical short, Pie, Pie Blackbird. Pie, Pie Blackbird was released on June 4, 1932.

The music in this episode (and all episodes) of Aige Old Radio was used for entertainment--and one could say, educational--purposes only. All music was obtained from the Internet Archive and is believed by me, Adrienne, to be in the Public Domain. Also--unless stated otherwise, all of the above photos were obtained from Wikipedia.
