Black Music Month

'Tis the month of June. June represents the beginning of summer. For a lot of kids in this country, it's a month that represents "FREEDOM!!!". For Fathers, it means "Yay, this is the month where I get all the Mother's Day crumbs!"

June also happens to be "Black Music Month" (or as it's called now, "African-American Music Appreciation Month").

Black-Americans have laid foundations for many-a-things in this country, but I do believe that our music is the most deeply rooted and most extensively nourished aspect of American culture (the plants often get uprooted and moved to another garden for nourishing, but we won't talk about that today). I'm a huge music lover and I'm extremely proud to come from a people who've created and innovated so many amazing sounds. With that said, I will be celebrating Black American music on My Aige Old Soul throughout the month. I will be honoring the greats and of course, the unsung.

Will you join me in celebrating?
